音信川に架かる湯本大橋のたもとに佇む、天保2年開業の長門湯本温泉では最古の歴史を誇る宿。5年ほど前に、日帰り入浴しました。そばを流れる川のせせらぎから、中国の故事「沈石漱流」にちなんで、杉孫七郎子爵から「沈水亭」という名を頂いたことが、ﾎﾃﾙ名の由来だとか。巨石を配した大浴場では、無色透明のｱﾙｶﾘ性単純温泉を満喫。願い事が叶うという「如意宝珠」があるので、是非ご利益にあやかりたいものです。
